Dan Halkyard has extensive experience in developing, testing and certifying recyclable, compostable and post-consumer recycled (PCR) content flexible packaging materials. He has over 35 years of experience in the digital print market space focusing on digital printing substrates and coatings. He has worked for companies such as James River, Rexam, Arkwright, Oce and Sihl.
Halkyard joined S-OneLP in 2016. As the Senior Director Product Development, he has developed a range of digitally printable flexible packaging films and papers. These products were introduced to compliment S-OneLP offerings of HP Indigo primers and overprint varnishes. These solutions are provided to flexible packaging and label converters who use the coatings and unimaged films to make their final printed products.
S-One LP’s flexible packaging film portfolio is comprised of three product lines including Classic, ReTreve, and ReEarth. Classic is made from mixed plastic packaging films. ReTreve is made from recyclable polyethylene (PE). ReEarth is made from bio-based and compostable films.
Halkyard is instrumental in the development and certification of ReEarth including products that have been certified by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI), Composting Manufacturers Alliance (CMA,) TUV for both OK Compost Home and Industrial, and Lomi Approved.
